Let's Head to the Ballpark August 3rd!
Watching a Quad City River Bandits baseball game at Modern Woodmen Park should be on the list of everyone's to-do list. The view of the Mississippi River is magnificent from any seat in the stadium. Add two-for-one tickets, free food for kids, as well as the best company around, and you have a nice family evening.

The Broadway Historic District Board is coordinating a neighborhood night at the ballpark on Tuesday, August 3. That night's promotion is 2-for-1 tickets, plus kids eat free (hot dog, chips, and drink). So, we're going to get a block of upper box tickets; $4 each (adults and children). The game starts at 7 p.m. and they're playing the Clinton Lumberkings.
If you'd like to join us, please contact Broadway Board member Anthony Heddlesten at
(309)786-5562 or
heddlesten@gmail.com by July 28, so he can secure seats together.

Take a Step Back in Time

The Broadway Historic District is a 19th century neighborhood in the heart of Rock Island, Illinois. This revitalized residential area is known for its vintage homes, exciting preservation efforts, and front porch socializing.

The neighborhood is located near Rock Island’s thriving arts-and-entertainment district and Mississippi River. Residents and visitors enjoy close proximity to parks, bike paths, schools, and shopping.

The Broadway area has earned a reputation for its architecture and neighborhood events. It was awarded the status of National Historic District in 1998 and has been recognized in Midwest Living and This Old House magazines. Hundreds of people attend the neighborhood’s annual Tour of Homes, where beautifully restored Victorian era homes are open to visitors.

Come learn more about the history of Rock Island and the Broadway District, and what makes this such a great place to live!

Featured as an "In Progress" house on this year's Tour of Homes, the McFarlane House at 837 23rd Street is being renovated by Wayne and Lori Shafer, who also own the historic Wagner House at 904 23rd Street.  The home had been vacant for several years, and was in desperate need of exterior maintenance when the Shafers purchased the home to renovate and sell.  They began exterior restoration last year, including a new paint job and repair of the front porch and railings.  Work continues on the inside, including a total renovation of the kitchen, and major repairs in many rooms.  The McFarlane House is a local landmark.  Thank you Wayne and Lori for all your efforts to restore and preserve this wonderful home!
